Haldon Gold Cup [Class 1] [Grade 2] – Exeter

Betting Guide (Updated 3/11/19)

Age: 6/7 years old comprise 80% of the winners. Older winners came in smaller fields.

OR: 90% 150-159

Form: The majority of horses that won the race had their last race between Mar-May. Not many of them won this race (90%) although half placed in it. They need to have won on the same going in a previous race and placing at distance and on the course is a plus.

Trainers: P Nicholls and T George are the stand out trainers, both on 3 wins in the last 10.

Favourites are more likely to win on soft ground, getting less likely to win as the going moves to Good.

No top weight has won this race in the last 10 years but other than that weight does not seem to play a big part in the winners. That said, if the going is Good to Soft it seems horses with a lot less weight (15lbs less) tend to win more.

Odds 4/1 or below

Pedigree: Horses with a Sadler’s Wells pedigree have won half of the races in the last 10 years.
