Age: There is no great preference for age over 8 years old plus but in the last 5 years the younger horses have won more.
OR: 60% of winners had an OR of between 145-154
Favourites win rarely.
Nationality: Preference is for Irish horses followed by French.
Form: Most winners were last run in March and did not win the last race. It does not matter whether they placed or not. As it is such a unique race you do not get any matches with course and distance. However, winning on the same going is a good indicator.
Trainers: In the last 10 years there have been 10 different winning trainers so one might suggest this could continue and that those who have not won before stand a greater chance of winning.
Average starting price is 33/1 but there is a massive range around this so probably ignore.
Weights: No top weight horse has won this in the last 10 years.
Pedigree: 40% of winners have a Sadler’s Wells pedigree.
